Namesakes

A+J Patient Advocacy is named after the founder’s children (and very first clients) and in memory of two family members.

Artyom was born in 2009 and lives with congenital heart disease and congenital tracheobronchomalacia. He plays soccer year-round, enjoys History and Philosophy, and also serves as a patient advocate on the A+J Advisory Panel. Jet was born in 2010 and lives with complex congenital heart disease and neurodevelopmental disabilities. He enjoys History, reading, video games, and making music.

Adrian Hanson was a professional engineer, an avid concertgoer, athlete, traveler, and adventurer. The son of a teacher and nurse, Adrian was dedicated to equity in education and healthcare. Julie Powers was a critical care nurse who gave her patients her whole self. She spread laughter and kindness everywhere she went and was lovingly known as her family’s ray of sunshine. Julie loved the outdoors, especially the ocean, and could spend hours admiring Nature’s work.
